TOMMY!

So today we began rehearsal with blocking for the Jitterbug sequence, it looked very haphazard, we were all very nervous at first and then at the end it came together very well. We then rehearsed act I which ran 52 minutes give or take, and went very very well. It's shaping up to be an amazing show!

Updates

It's been a while since my last post. I've been lazy. Tommy is looking so amazing. I can't wait until we move into the actual space with an actual set. The other day in rehearsal during the killing scene the actors backed up into a table and knocked over a glass bottle and two glasses. Luckily there was no liquid in them. The management crew who was on staff that day cleaned it up and we continued. One of the actors had to stand in for the Acid Queen and it happened to be a male actor. It was so funny to watch him "perform" the Acid Queen's blocking. I also heard the band the other day and they sound amazing. I can't wait for the next rehearsal!

I miss Tommy!

I'm ready for Spike Heels to be done. There is only one more performance and I can't wait for it to be over. I am in Tommy mode and I don't think anything is going to take me out of it. So as soon as Spike Heels is done tomorrow I will be a very happy guy!

Tommy Rehearsal

I'm sitting in the Black Box Theatre waiting for rehearsal to start. We're doing blocking today. Its going to be really cool to watch everyone learn the actions for the show!

Light Call!

At light call today I got to change Source 4's in the Juliet of McKenna Theatre, Changing the upper ones was a little freaky because you have to climb a ladder that's built into the wall and you have nothing to lean on to reach out and grab the instrument. Then we had to load weight onto two of the electrics. After I'd taken all of the items I had in my pocket( Wallet, Ipod, Phone etc.) I began the long climb up the spiral staircase to the grid. It was really freaky because spiral staircases freak me out a bit. I don't like the feeling of going in circles both up and down. Adding weight was fine until the arbor began to move while I was working on it. We figured all of that out and continued to work, until the fire alarm went off. We waited outside for 15 minutes while the Fire Department determined that someone had accidentally set it off. We cleaned up all of our stuff and that was the end of call.

Tommy Rehearsal 2

Today was the second rehearsal for Tommy! At today's rehearsal we got to hear about how Uncle Ernie likes to fiddle about. Kinda creepy. All of the stage management crew seemed a little freaked out for those lyrics in the song. The songs all sounded really really good, and the cast was learning them very quickly. I'm excited to see how the show progresses!

Tommy First Rehearsal!

So today was the first rehearsal for Tommy. We had designer presentations, which went very well and everything looks like its going to be great. Its going to be an awesome show but a very rough production. There will be a lot of work involved for everyone. I'm really excited to be working on this show. We have a fabulous stage manager. We have a great cast as well. We're all going to pull together and work well together. I can't wait for the next rehearsal so that I can see how the show comes together. Here's to a great production :)

First time ever...

Hey guys. This is my first blog. I hope it goes well, but I'm going to be chronicling my Theatre Tech world at SUNY New Paltz. Its going to be a busy rest of the semester because I am finishing Spike Heels, and I'm going to be rehearsing for Tommy! :) I'm excited to start this and I hope anyone who reads this enjoys it. I'm new at this and its going to take some getting used to. But hopefully it all works out. I'll post whenever I can.
